I am first and foremost a writer. I have been published in magazines and newspapers all over the world. I have been writing a novel for more than ten years, but my mental health and fear of failure (and perhaps even of success!) has kept me from finishing it.
I also created the popular and award-winning blog, It’s a Mother Thing, which chronicles my family life from my very first pregnancy through giving birth to four boys. I love writing, and I am so lucky to be able to make a living through my words.
But the truth is that I have found a new passion in life. I am absolutely dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding mental illness and helping to lighten the load of anyone struggling with it.
I personally suffer from depression, anxiety, OCD, and Borderline Personality Disorder. I have spent many years, a LOT of money and so much emotional currency on various therapies, medications and research to help fight my issues. Being a full time mother leaves little time for self-care, so I have made the decision to make myself a priority in my own life.
This blog chronicles my own personal mental health journey as well as all the ways I’ve discovered to help others. I hope it will help you, too.
