Surrounding yourself with positive messages can often be key in keeping your mind well. I love to buy clothing that reflects my decision to look for happiness and inspiration everywhere. But sometimes it’s nice to get a little crafty! That’s why I love this totally simple DIY “Love” Women’s Tank Top, which anyone can make and wear whenever they want to surround themselves with a little extra love.
To begin, you only need a few supplies.
Supplies:
- Tank top in any color
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Dark permanent marker that you want to use for the word “love”
- Scissors
- 5 – 10 pieces of paper
- Black paint
- Thin, long paintbrush
- Palette for paint
Instructions:
Step 1 Wash and iron your shirt.
Step 2 Put pieces of paper between the front and back of the shirt so your design does not bleed through.
Step 3 Cut a paper 7” x 7”
Step 4 Sketch out the word “love” on the piece of paper. The word should go from one end of the paper to the other in order to be big enough to look good on the tank.
Step 5 Put the paper on the tank to make sure it is a good fit and will look like you want it to.
Step 6 Trace your design in black permanent marker.
Step 7 Put this under the front of the shirt. Make sure it is centered and positioned how you think it looks good. (It could be straight accoross, at a diagonal, etc.)
Step 8 Use the dark permanent marker to trace over the word “love” on top of the tank top.
TIP: Go slowly in small lines so that you do not snag or drag the fabric with the marker.
Step 9 Put a little paint on the palette and again, carefully and slowly, paint over the marker to make the word “love”. Use a dry brush and a light hand so that it looks like paint brush lettering with light and dark streaks that naturally occur while painting.
Step 10 Add a free-hand drawn heart under the word “love” and a little off center to the right side. Let the paint on the tank top dry completely.
And there you have it! A super cute and truly simple fashion statement to help you wear your heart on your sleeve. This will work for any design on any t-shirt, so feel free to go wild!
